Memorial Day Violence with ValueMags

ValueMags employees are addressing the public: the Memorial Day violence has to stop. The marketing and distribution company is addressing the public because they fear for their employees lives getting to and from work. During Memorial Day weekend, there has been and continues to be a lot of violence. Usually, this violence occurs at night between local gangs but recently it has begun happening during the day. In response to the six deaths and nearly seventy wounded during last year’s Memorial Day, ValueMags employees are being more cautious as well as the Chicago police. The Chicago police have issued thirteen hundred more police officers to patrol the city during Memorial Day weekend. Additionally, before the weekend, Chicago police did a series of raids to arrest certain gang members and detain them to curb the violence on Memorial Day weekend. They targeted individuals that are most likely to be involved in gang and gun violence. As a result, they have decreased the number of names on their Strategic Subject List and Most Wanted List in Chicago. These already successful raids were said to continue over the weekend.

During the weekend raids, ValueMags employees and staff found it shocking that the Chicago police department recovered over seventy guns, many of which that were being illegally owned. The Chicago police were also successful at shutting down gun and drug operations for the majority of a local gang: the Gangster Two-Six Nation. Dozens were arrested, many of which were arteries and coordinators for the activities that took place within the group. ValueMags employees do not mind that individuals participate in these actives, but keep it behind closed doors. It is ridiculous that employees and citizen of Chicago have to forgo their feeling of safety to put up with gang activity. Thus, an increased police presence. Hopefully, the police can secure the city soon post-Memorial Day.
